San Francisco, CA - May 17, 2007 Microcinema International has signed an exclusive home video distribution deal with the National Gallery of Art in Washington, D.C. for a documentary on the artist, Edward Hopper, narrated by actor and writer Steve Martin. The DVD will have a pre-release in time for the Edward Hopper retrospective opening at the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston on May 6th, 2007, with a broader-market release slated for July 31st.

About the Edward Hopper Exhibition and Documentary
Edward Hopper is organized by the Museum of Fine Arts, Boston, where it debuts May 6 through August 19, 2007; the National Gallery of Art, Washington, where it will be on view September 16, 2007 through January 21, 2008; and The Art Institute of Chicago, where it will be seen February 16 through May 11, 2008.
A documentary film about Hopper's career produced by the National Gallery of Art will accompany the exhibition at all three venues and will be aired on PBS-TV stations nationwide. Narrated by Steve Martin, the production includes archival footage of the artist, new footage of places that inspired him in New York and New England, interviews with artists Red Grooms and Eric Fischl on Hopper's influence as well as views on Hopper's work by the co-curators of the exhibition, Carol Troyen, John Moors Cabot Curator of American Paintings, Museum of Fine Arts, Boston and Judith Barter, The Field-McCormick Chair of American Art at The Art Institute of Chicago, and independent scholar, Avis Berman.
