ELECTRIC PURGATORY
The Fate of the Black Rocker
Electric Purgatory is a documentary that examines the struggles of black rock musicians and the industry’s ambivalence towards them by combining scintillating performance footage and provocative interview clips. Director Raymond Gayle spent the better part of a year traveling around the United States interviewing many of black rock’s elite including Fishbone, Vernon Reid, Adam Falcon, Jimi Hazel and Cody Chesnutt. Distinguished journalists such as Flip Barnes, Darrell McNeil, Charlie Braxton, and Greg Tate, Share their opinions and insight on the dilemma facing these artists. The film also attempts to dissect the stigma black rock musicians face in the black community and more importantly how to bring black audiences back into the fold.

SAN BASE: SUPERNATURAL
Dynamic Painting by San Base
Canadian artist San Base is a pioneer of a new medium of Art that utilizes the classical elements of painting and music, while harnessing the power of computer technology to bring two drastically different disciplines together. He named this kind of art “Dynamic Painting”.
Dynamic Paintings are composed of abstract images in a state of perpetual transformation. The basic idea of the painting remains unchanged, while the computer introduces infinite variations. The picture is living its own life with objects moving and transforming but still following the original artist’s concept.
Dynamic Paintings can provide a form of visual stimulation that evokes changes in physiological activity to improve health and performance. It is a great outlet for relaxation, meditation and spiritual awareness and stimulates a variety of emotional and mental states that can help alleviate anxiety and treat stress.
