Netherlands,
Narrative,
2002,
35mm,

Aagt (Celia Nufaar) is a lonely woman. Bruised by life. Her marriage was a failure, she missed the love of her life, her only son stood up against her, her daughter in law was a bitch and her husband died in his chair sitting next to her. During her visit to the Chinese restaurant, on her regular table, we get to know her by her thoughts. She is a straight, even stiff woman, but with a sense of perspective and humor. Aagt reflects her life on that of the other guests. It turns out that things aren't always what they seem.

That we dream is common; how we dream is unique. For this project, a collection of dreams were animated together, each in a different style. People shared their personal dreams in interviews with the director, ranging from wish fulfilling to melancholy, whimsical to bewildering, joyful to nightmarish. The dreams are woven together into a single landscape, but each style reflects the dreamer himself. Seeing the world around us through another's eyes is a glimpse into who that person is, but to see a person's dreams through their own eyes is rare and magical.

A darkly comic story about procrastination in which a man becomes entangled in his own domestic web. His repeatedly unsuccessful attempts to leave his flat eventually set off a series of chain reactions ensuring his inevitable descent into domestic chaos! The film is a psychological drama that strikes a chord with the audience by depicting the character in the grip of this common neurosis.
