Synopsis Details Reviews Similar Items Screenings
Spike Jonze is most widely known as the director of Being John Malkovich (which garnered three Academy Award nominations) and Adaptation. However, Jonze also remains a pioneer in the world of music videos and for many years has been best known as an award-winning music video, short film and commercial director. He got his start working as a photographer and co-directing the skate video "Blind Video Days" with Mark Gonzales.

Spike's direction of the Beastie Boys' "Sabotage" music video (1994), in the form of opening credits for a fictional 1970s cop show, received critical acclaim and numerous awards. Ever since, Jonze's music videos have regularly been nominated for MTV Video Music Awards. In fact, Spike directed Fatboy Slim's "Praise You," which was named the best video of all time by MTV voters. Also ranked on that all-time best list are several of his other videos, including "Sabotage," Weezer's "Buddy Holly," Daft Punk's "Da Funk," Bjork's "It's Oh So Quiet" and Fatboy Slim's "Weapon Of Choice." Spike has also worked with such talented artists as The Pharcyde, R.E.M., Notorious B.I.G, and The Chemical Brothers. A DVD of Spike's music videos, documentaries, short films and other rarities will be released by Palm Pictures and the Directors Label this fall.

Spike also produced Michel Gondry's Human Nature, based on an original script by his frequent collaborator Charlie Kaufman.
