For the last forty years, Yves St. Laurent has reigned as one of the most influential and brilliantly inspired couturiers of our times. His dramatic designs, emphasizing the body and a seductive elegance, and his conceptual innovations such as the pant suit for women, have completely revolutionized women's fashion.
YVES SAINT LAURENT: TIME REGAINED follows his career, from his precocious privileged youth in colonial Algeria to his emergences as Christian Dior's teenage protégé, and then heir at age 22, to the dazzling debut of his first line under his own name. It conveys the key role he played during his nearly half century career leading the transition of high fashion as something for a wealthy elite to fashion as a broad based pop cultural phenomenon. Rarely interviewed, Saint Laurent himself speaks candidly and with great emotion about key events of his life. Abetted with an array of telling photos and evocative period footage featuring longtime supporters like Catherine Deneuve and lee Radizwell as well as contemporary interviews with this longtime business partner and companion Pierre Berge, a portrait emerges of arguably one of the century's key cultural figures.

About "5 Avenue Marceau 75116 Paris"
YVES ST. LAURENT: 5 AVENUE MARCEAU is an uncommon journey, intimate, at the heart of the enterprise of a living myth of one of the legends of this century. For the first time, the fashion designer accepted the invitation to open the doors of his "house of fashion" to a team of film production crew.
For 40 years, Yves St. Laurent has not ceased to extend his influence for finally becoming undeniably the most celebrated fashion designer, which is art that was always and firstly a way of life: a style. And the "St. Laurent style" is before all the behaviour: the respect of the human body and the exaltation of its contours.
During the three months or more of shooting, the camera of David Teboul brings in a very close narrative to the discovery of a creator in his battle with the universe of a work devoted to creation, from the sketch until the final modeling.
YSL is surrounded by his family, the few rare people who know how to intervene in his ballet without without disturbing. There is Anne-Marie Munoz, met at the Christian Dior designing house in 1957, Lolou de la Falaise, his muse and Pierre
Bergé.
In the next circle, Jean-Pierre, Colette, Alain, Georgette, heads of the workshop guide an army of small and great hands that are active behind the scenes and prepare the next collection.
It takes about 8 weeks to prepare a collection. For Yves St. Laurent, the time does not obey the requirements of an economical rationality. His eyes closed, the designer goes from the dream of the sketch, then from the sketch to the fabric,
and from the fabric to the garment. Under his inspiration, the garment undergoes a series of mutations before taking on its definitive form on the body of a live woman.
But when their birth is over, when they become dresses, coats, pants, tailored suits of dreams, his creations do not concern him anymore. As soon as they appear on the runways, they begin to live their lives far from him. Further Information:
"Captivating…interviews are insightful, entertaining and surprisingly frank."
