Donald Judd’s Marfa Texas
From New York City to Marfa Texas, Donald Judd (1928-1994) expounds upon his lifelong preoccupation with aesthetics, his persistent efforts to place his work in the proper environment, and his dismissal of contemporary architecture through his last interview included on this DVD. In this provocative documentary, the film shows us how this 1970s New York City–based minimalist made a bold move to southern Texas, where he gutted a former U.S. Army fort on a 340 acre tract of desert to fill them with his large-scale installations, where they rest permanently. Donald Judd shares his iconoclastic commentary balanced by curator Joh Yau’s overview of Judd’s career.
Tony Cragg: In Celebration of Sculpture
Working in plastic, glass, stone, wood, steel, fiberglass and found objects such as industrial waste (often interpreted as commenting on the economic difficulties Britain was experienceing at the time), Tony Cragg has established himself as one of the most versatile contemporary sculptors. In this cinema verité profile, Cragg's challenging, visceral approach is intimately revealed as he creates and installs exhibitions of his work. Further Information:
